We deliver a Science curriculum that is knowledge-rich, and centred around the development of a strong understanding of the scientific process.

Pupils are encouraged to question the world around them, and to closely study the phenomena that they are introduced to throughout Key Stages 1 and 2. By the end of Year 6, pupils will have developed independence in planning, carrying out, assessing and evaluating investigations, and will be adept at handling and manipulating variables.

We are hugely proud to announce that the school is one of 136 schools that has recently achieved the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM), a nationally recognised accreditation that celebrates a commitment to developing excellence in science leadership, curriculum design, teaching and learning. Led by the University of Hertfordshire, the PSQM has been setting children on a path to a life filled with exciting possibilities and opportunities, by giving them access to a strong foundation in quality primary science education.

At St Peter & St Paul a large part of what we teach in Science is around sustainability – helping our children understand how better to look after our planet. For example, Year 4 explored what green jobs possible are and researched different types of green careers, discussing how these jobs help to care for the planet and protect the environment. 

They then had a go at imagining what it would be like to have a green job. For example, those who chose to be chefs created a vegan menu, while architects designed sustainable buildings with solar panels and other eco-friendly features.
