Governors’ Fund

Governors’ Funds are a regular part of fundraising for many Catholic Schools and play a vital role in enhancing the infrastructure to provide the best learning environment for our children. Your generosity has made a significant impact, and we are grateful for your ongoing commitment to St. Peter and St. Paul Catholic Primary School.

What is the Governors’ Fund?

The Governors’ Fund is made up of contributions from our school community to help improve our school’s infrastructure through essential building and renovation projects.

Why do we need a Governors’ Fund?

As a Voluntary Aided Catholic School, we have the privilege of educating and nurturing children in our faith. However, this also means that we must contribute 10% of the cost of any building or renovation project, as the Diocese does not provide full funding. Additionally, we cannot reclaim VAT on these projects, increasing the overall financial burden.

For example, in 2023/24, we received a Diocesan grant to upgrade our fire system to meet safety regulations. This included installing a new fire alarm system and replacing fire doors and glass. The school’s required 10% contribution was £45,000, primarily funded through Governors’ Fund donations. Without this fund, we would need to divert money from essential school resources. Many local Catholic schools rely on similar funding to maintain and improve their facilities.

What difference has this money made to our children?

Recent projects funded by your contributions include:

  • 2022/23: Remodelling of a disused mezzanine floor into a KS1 Library and Intervention Learning Rooms
  • 2023/24: Refurbishment of the KS2 Library
  • 2024/25: Fire system upgrade to meet health and safety regulations, including new doors, glass, and fire alarms (Diocese-approved project with a £45,000 school contribution)

What are our plans for 2025/26?

Complete the fire refurbishment
Install new windows
Enhance the children’s learning experience, including:

  • Reading materials
  • Playground improvements
  • Additional educational enhancements as recommended by teachers

What is the suggested donation per family?
