The School Council collaborated to write this report on their memorable day in Parliament:
Today we went to the Houses of Parliament to meet our teacher’s friend Emma Hardy MP. At first they wouldn’t let us in because the whole of Parliament Square was cordoned off with police for VE Day, but luckily Emma came out to get us and we went through a secret passage. The security was extremely high. We put our bags through an airport scanner. As we went through the magnificent corridors, we were stunned by the things we saw: paintings and murals and we also saw two statues of a lion and a unicorn. We then went through a beautiful café where all the important people eat and we met another MP and a driver who showed us a bullet proof car; his name was Mark.

Then we went to the terrace in front of the London Eye and took a picture. We asked our questions. Emma explained her job is about sewage and floods. She told us about the super sewer under the Thames. After that she had to go up to Hull because it was VE day. There was a procession in the grand hall and waited and saw many MPs including Keir Starmer, Angela Rayner, Kemi Badenoch and Nigel Farage. We went to St James Park for lunch. It was a very amazing and superior day.
